The International Summer Workshops 2025 at Tanya P

The International Summer Workshops 2025 at Tanya Pearson Academy brought together vocational ballet students aged 11 and above from around the world for an extraordinary week of inspiration, artistry, and achievement. One of the most exciting features of the program was the rare opportunity for students to immerse themselves in Balanchine Repertoire, learning the iconic style and technique of one of ballet’s most influential choreographers. In addition to this, participants engaged in intensive training across Ballet, Pointe, Male Coaching, Variation, Contemporary, Character, and the Gyrotonic Method, developing their skills and artistry.

Led by special guest Rainer Krenstetter, former Principal Dancer with Staatsballett Berlin and Miami City Ballet, current Artistic Director of Company Unblanche, and Associate Artistic Director of The Margot Fonteyn Academy of Ballet, the workshops offered a truly unique and inspiring experience.

We are proud to announce that 32 scholarships were awarded to prestigious platforms, including The Margot Fonteyn Academy of Ballet, Unblanche, and Mont Royal Ballet Academy, providing wonderful opportunities for our talented participants. A heartfelt thank you to Rainer Krenstetter for his generosity and support in creating such memorable experiences for our workshop attendees.

Special thanks to our dedicated faculty and guest teachers—Lisa-Maree Cullum, Gilli O'Connell, Josef Brown, Wanda Wojtulewicz-Levine, and Stephanie Hancox—whose passion and expertise inspired every dancer. The workshops fostered a vibrant and supportive environment, where students not only advanced their skills but also formed lasting connections and memories.

What an incredible three days at our Junior Summer Workshops! A fantastic opportunity for students from Primary to Grade 5 (or equivalent) to learn from senior faculty members of our Full-Time & Part-Time Academy, as well as inspiring guest teachers.

Our young dancers explored Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Character, Repertoire, Dance Education, and creative Arts & Crafts workshops—a wonderful way to develop both their dance skills and artistic expression. It was a joy to see their enthusiasm in every class!

A heartfelt thank you to our faculty for creating such a special and inspiring experience. We now look forward to an exciting year ahead, with Term 1 commencing next Monday—we can’t wait to see our students back in the studios!

We are thrilled to announce that Ako Kondo and Chengwu Guo, Principal Artists of The Australian Ballet, are joining our Full-Time Faculty at Tanya Pearson Academy as exclusive Guest Teachers during their Sydney seasons!

This is an incredible opportunity for our students to learn directly from two of the most celebrated ballet artists in the world. As dancers at the pinnacle of their careers, their expertise, artistry, and professional insight will further enrich the professional training we provide at TPA, inspiring the next generation of elite dancers.

At Tanya Pearson Academy, we are proud of our exceptional and passionate faculty who are dedicated to nurturing talent and helping students achieve their fullest potential. As very talented mentors, Ako and Chengwu will be a wonderful addition to our team.

We are also very proud to announce an official partnership with their successful coaching platform, Chengwu Guo Ballet: www.chengwuguoballet.com.au Through this collaboration, Ako and Chengwu will offer Classical Ballet Coaching for young artists and adults, as well as Ballet Workshops on Sundays during their visits to our Tanya Pearson Arts Centre. These additional workshops will be open to both TPA students and external ballet students.

We are delighted to create this unique collaboration with such exceptional industry professionals as a reflection of our dedication to providing world-class education and unparalleled opportunities for our students.

We are proud to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of Isabella Jordan, who has reached incredible milestones during her time at Tanya Pearson Academy. Starting as a Part-Time student, Isabella advanced through all levels of training and graduated at the highest level as a Pre-Professional student in our Elite Full-Time Training Program, demonstrating exceptional commitment and talent.

Isabella’s accomplishments include receiving the prestigious Solo Seal Award from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), recognising her exceptional artistry, technical ability, and performance. She also represented Australia as a semi-finalist at the 2024 RAD Fonteyn International Ballet Competition, showcasing her talent on the international stage.

A highlight of Isabella’s achievements in 2025 is her contract as a trainee with the renowned Victorian State Ballet Company, marking an exciting beginning to her professional career in dance. This achievement reflects her hard work, artistry, and the professional training she received at Tanya Pearson Academy.

This year has been full of amazing moments for TPA, and both the part-time and full-time students have accomplished wonderful achievements in 2024.

It was magnificent to see the dancers shine onstage throughout the year and perform to such a high professional standard in the Sydney Eisteddfod Gala at the Opera House, Adult Ballet Performances, The Little Mermaid production and the full Nutcracker season!
In 2024, we were also impressed by the students’ wonderful performances and achievements in eisteddfods, competitions, assessments and exams. Congratulations to all TPA students!

We are so proud of the dedication, commitment, hard work and passion that our dancers displayed this year!

A big thank you to our amazing TPA team who provided a wonderful education and supported all TPA students this year. We look forward to an exciting 2025 working with our wonderful team of beautiful educators and members of staff who are passionate to nurture the love of dance and to making the experience at TPA a special one. We appreciate your expertise, care and dedication in training a new generation of dancers and the shared vision in providing the best experience and opportunities in dance education.

It was incredible to have such stunning special guest artists perform the grand pas de deux roles of Sugar Plum and Prince! Sensational Ako Kondo and Chengwu Guo, of The Australian Ballet, Superb Jemima Scott and Zacharie Dun of the New Zealand Ballet and stunning and accomplished TPA graduates Janae Kerr and Cameron Holmes of The Australian Ballet who all delighted and thrilled the audience! A special thanks to all of these guest artists for their sensational performances which were very inspiring for our young artists.

We are delighted to announce that Josef Brown will be joining us in this year’s production of The Nutcracker, performing the captivating role of Drosselmeyer!

A former Soloist with The Australian Ballet, Josef’s illustrious career has taken him from the stages of Modern Dans Topluluguu in Ankara and Sydney Dance Company to acclaimed musical theatre roles, including the iconic Johnny Castle in Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage. His versatility extends to screen, with memorable appearances in Dance Academy, Spartacus – Gods of the Arena, Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries, and Neighbours. Beyond performance, Josef has contributed as a writer, producer, choreographer, and arts advocate, leaving his mark on the dance and arts community both on and off the stage.

Drawing on a rich and diverse career across dance, theatre, and screen, Josef brings remarkable depth, charisma, and artistry to his portrayal of Drosselmeyer. We’re looking forward to sharing his captivating performance with you this holiday season. 🎄🎶

We are incredibly proud of our Full-Time students who performed beautifully at the Royal North Shore Hospital, presenting a variety of dance pieces, including excerpts from our upcoming production of The Nutcracker. Their performance brought joy and a touch of Christmas spirit to patients and staff alike.

This occasion was particularly meaningful, as one of our students, Ella, received care at RNSH earlier this year for a serious knee injury. Her return to dance and performance for those who supported her recovery was both heart-warming and inspiring.

We extend our heartfelt thank you to our students for their generosity in performing for our local community and to our teachers for their guidance and support.

Our fabulous performers are to be congratulated for the passion and stage craft that made their roles come to life on stage. They delighted the audiences, and their love of dance and infectious energy were expressed in every show! We congratulate all our amazing students on their outstanding performances! We are so proud of each and every one of you.
A huge thank you to our wonderful Part-time Academy Principal Emma-Jane Morton for her dedication, care, and incredible work involved in pulling this production together!
Our fabulous teaching faculty once again showed their dedication and expertise in preparing, choreographing and staging the dancers so they can perform at their best!
